Spring Break 2012 - Take 2 of Disney

As most know, we took a trip to Orlando over Spring Break due to I couldn't due much this past Christmas since I broke my wrist.  We had a great time and decided to do the "real Disney vacation" we stayed at the http://www.shadesofgreen.org/, did not rent a car so we used their transportation (shuttle buses).  It was very different than I visioned but we had a good time.  I guess I was just surprised that with it being a military resort that we would have "military prices"  it was more so of Disney prices.  If you wanted a soda you paid $1.75 for a bottle (not a 2 Liter bottle), at the AAFES....I know I am on vacation but I don't need to break the bank.  Lucky for me I had family in Florida that came to visit so I made them do a shopping trip for snacks and drinks.  I did love they had a lot of restaurants nearby but for some reason never what we wanted to eat...made Ryan miss my cooking. :)  We enjoyed the extra magic hours, although the whole park is not open so if your staying at a Disney resort for this option....make sure to check the Disney World website to see what attractions are open during the extra magic hours...I didn't know they had a listing until the last park we went to.  So all in all, if we take a trip to Disney again, I would rather rent a condo or house through http://www.homeaway.com/ & rent a car.  We had a great experience the last time we rented a condo and I really liked having a kitchen which is most important.  Another site to check out for hotels, condos, etc is http://www.afvclub.com/...we used this before for Orlando and for Greece, great prices for military.  I did this blog for some of my friends planning trips to Orlando and were asking about the things we did and places we stayed.  We had a busy week.  We went to Epcot, Disney Quest, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.  We also did a Hot Air Balloon Ride.  Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Christmas Happenings....Part 2

Wow, I can not believe how fast time flies by!  Despite broken wrist we did have a somewhat great vacation in Florida.  First we stopped in Georgia to see Ryan's Sister Julie and her new baby DJ.

Then after that we made it to Florida for family, friends and of course fun.  Here is a few pictures of Christmas Lane in Dover Florida....

Here photos of our trip as a vacation to Orlando, the Johnson Crew came to visit us, my sister in law Brandy and Ryan's Dad, Scott who helped with the kids during surgery and doctor appointments.

We didn't visit Disney as much as planned but we had a great time anyhow.   We have already planned and paid for our trip to Disney during the girls spring break.

Once our trip to Orlando was finished we got more family time:

I feel horrible looks like I missed a bunch of people in my photos, all I can say was I was happy to get what I had considering I only had one usable hand.  On our way back to Connecticut we were able to stop in SC and see another friend of ours we met in Guam for New Years!  Thanks Jenn & Family for sharing New Years Eve with us. (boo I didn't take any photos!)

It's just a wrist....

Well I haven't blogged much lately since I broke my wrist and couldn't use my right hand/arm.  So for those that keep up with me and might have missed the story....

X-Ray after they straighten it somewhat...

First day of vacation in Florida I decided to take the girls roller skating at Skateland in Brandon.  During the adult state (darn it can't blame the kiddos tripping me!) I was talking to my sister in law Brandy and felt like I was going to fall so I tried catching myself...well little did I realize how far up I was and my fat butt just landed wrong on my wrist which shattered it.  I knew right away it was broke, lets just say my hand.. a mound and then go back down to my arm...YIKES!  Believe it or not I was calm until the ER although I did tell my SIL to stop hitting every bump and felt like I was going to faint...So Brandy takes me to Brandon Regional and goes to get Ryan...he was smart and decided skating was not  for him.  Good call!  At the ER they took x rays and told me it was pretty bad and they would straighten it the best they can but surgery was  90% going to happen...but they do not do the surgery and I would be referred to a Orthopedic.  They got me some really good meds, straighten the wrist somewhat and put me in a splint til the Ortho appointment.  I went to the Ortho in Orlando on a Monday and had surgery on Tuesday...they put a plate in my wrist and put an open cast on me....did I mention I got some more good meds.   I was disappointed I only got a white cast w/ a ace bandage wrapped around it but they said maybe the next ortho will give me a pretty one...lol   Well we got back to CT and I seen an wrist specialist here which said the ortho in FL did a great job fixing me up...YAY!  So I finally got the cool looking cast....favorite color PURPLE!  Its since been 6 weeks....I went to my ortho today and got my cast taken off and more x rays.  Everything is going good, I will now go through 6 weeks of therapy to learn to use my hand again.

Finally no cast!

For me going through this I have realized alot.  It is very depressing when you are used to doing things and then you can not.  I did not mind handing off the chores but I like things done a certain way and it was hard to let go.  I tried not to post up on facebook about my depression,  I still got out of bed and took kids to school etc.  Im not blogging about this to get sympathy Im simply telling everyone because I am sure there are more people then me battling depression.  I am good now, my issue now is looking at my arm and I feel like its different, it looks different, feels different.  I know in time it will be better but getting to that point is the battle right now.

I will slowly add more blogs and I shooting for happy ones. :)  I know everyone's issues with Tricare are different but with me I have to say they were great!  They did my referrals right away and so far so good.  Now I just hope they pay all the bills.
